Career Firefighter

The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District is recruiting to create an eligibility list for the position of Career Firefighter.
Work Week: 56-hour, 48/96 Schedule (3-platoon, 27-day FLSA work period)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of application. Applicants must provide a copy/proof of each of the following requirements with their application:
- Valid California EMT-1 certificate
- California Firefighter 1 certificate with certification number, issued by the State Fire Marshal’s Office
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or high school proficiency certificate
- Current CPAT card
SELECTION PROCESS
Application Filing: Applications may be obtained from the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District office at 134 Oak Street, Brentwood, CA 94513-1335, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM from June 6, 2008, through July 7, 2008, or from the District’s website: www.eccfpd.org. The final filing date and time Monday, July 7, 2008, at 5 PM.

- Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications, and file a complete application will be invited to proceed in the process.
EXAMINATION
- Written Exam: The written exam is tentatively scheduled for July 26, 2008. This written exam will assess Firefighter 1 and EMT 1 knowledge. Candidates passing this written exam with a score of 70% or greater will be invited to an oral exam.
- Oral Exam: The oral exam is tentatively scheduled for August 11, 12 and 13, 2008.
- Candidates will also be required to successfully complete a background investigation prior to appointment. A job offer will be contingent on passing a pre-employment medical exam.
